Description: December, 2009 visit to the Rochester, NY PAL Model Railroad Heaven – The Edgerton Model Train Room. This is the Summer layout – first on the left as you enter the room from the “Observation” platform. While many of the scenic elements have been preserved from initial 1950 construction, the track plan has been updated into a multi-level over-under arrangement replacing what was once a more open yard area. The track is now K-Line Shadow Rail O Gauge with the new style low-profile Super Snap switches/machines. Maury Klein of K-Line Electric Trains donated track and switches for the first major overhaul of the Summer & Winter layouts about 25 years ago. This newer K-Line trackage is reportedly a gift from Lionel when they acquired K-Line’s inventory at the time Kader took over and licensed K-Line to Lionel. The Polar Express is traversing the scene in this video. These Layouts were prominently profiled in the Lionel / Bantam books of the 1950’s in the chapter titled “Model Railroading As A Civil Project”, and the story of their construction by the Police Athletic League is detailed in those pages. Lionel was the supplier of the all of the train equipment at that time. All four layouts, Summer, Fall, Winter, & Spring, represent landscapes in/around the Rochester area. The original backdrops have all been preserved and worked in to the layout updates.

Wow dude, you need to chill. What the hell are you so bitter about? Your not a real train guy, no self respecting train guy would trash another train guy’s scale or brand. Stop being an ASS!

    “LIONEL TRAINS” by Charles Osgood

    The railroads of our yesterdays
Touched people’s lives in many ways.
One whistle sound, one stretch of track,
    And memories come flooding back.
The romance of the railroad trains
Is still alive; it still remains.
What lovely stories trains could tell
And still do, thanks to LIONEL.

    @RerailMe

If you don’t like Lionel Trains, then don’t comment on the video, it’s as simple as that.

O gauge trains are for men, and HO is too delicate and hard on the eyes

@coldandscared Its not that I dont like o gauge. I have no problems with that gauge. The problem is how fake the lionel track and wheels looks compared to the real thing and especially those darn huge flanges that I always laugh at. They look more like child toys than something I can take seriously for its realisim. And untill they fix those fake aspects, I will still laugh at Lionel trains!

@HarveyHenkelmann O gauge are for men.. yes..I like 0 gauge.
What I dont like are how fake Lionel train wheels and rails are compared to the real thing. They are not to scale. They are more like toys than the smaller “more accurate” models.

I was just giving a statement. But still, when it comes to realisim, Lionel still sucks. Bwahahah.
By the way, your setup is really cool!

To each his own, my good sir. I prefer Lionel and other 0 gauge, just as you prefer HO. Its a hobby after all, not a religion, so relax dude. Sometimes I think its a shame that some cars are either to large or underscale, but who cares? Its all in good fun. I’ve done the HO thing and it wasnt for me. But that dosent mean I think its “WRONG” and people who are HO-ers should like O. Enjoy your trains, and I’ll enjoy mine.

I used to model HO. Now I model O 3-rail and love it! It’s bigger and the sound is awesome. Besides, the trains are heavier and you can feel them going by!
