Description: This video series, hosted by Michael Gross, will teach you the simple how-to workshop techniques you need to know to take an HO scale electric train set and make it a scenic model railroad. Well show you how to build a 4×8 model train table (benchwork) from plywood, lay sections of track, create easy realistic scenery using foam and paint, assemble model buildings, and wire your layout with a DC power pack. When youre done, youll have a railroad that operates well and looks real. Our techniques would work in N, O, S, G, or Z scale also. This video is scene 8, Scenery part 2 how-to. im new to model railroading, i have the quickfix track atm, with the traditional track – you always have to fix it to the cork strip? or can you simply nail it to the table?

i think gluing the track is a bad idea. If you want to change the way your layout works, like adding or removing a siding, or turntable, you can’t. my layout has gone under a few changes, like adding long pieces of track and adding a switch

Now that is a smart idea, draw around the track, remove it and then draw the rest over top.
    Thanks for the pointers :)

@HellvisNotDead if you do a lot of work to the track; i.e. Ballast it and pain the rail ties, you should be fine….
