Description: In 2005, Lionel worked with TW Designs craftsmen and artisans to design and create the New York Transit Museum’s Annual Holiday Train Show at Grand Central Terminal. The emotional centerpiece of this exciting and popular display was an homage to an American railroading icon and the “Cathedral of Train Terminals” – Grand Central Terminal. The impressive creation successfully embodies the spirit of the structure’s Beaux Arts design and Countan’s 42nd Street façade. Rather than a scale model, designer Roger Farkash captured the structures proportions and essence with the simplified detail more appropriate to a toy train layout. Designed and crafted in the US, Lionels GCT model is sure to appeal to discriminating collectors and operators who appreciate the art of the train. Each of the 250 limited edition pieces will be numbered, include interior illumination, and will be secured to a base incorporating a 1/4- scale stair-step around the perimeter. Detailed product information can be found in Lionels 2009 Signature Edition Catalog.
